For the record, Yueki doesn’t usually…DO “fancy” and hates being part of things like this…but he had someone *coughUsamiicough* talk him into it. >u> So he pulled out the nicest clothes he owns and actually flattened down his hair >u> LOL I apologize for the fail lineart…I have been fighting through an art block on top of everything else and pretty much forced myself to get it down for our collab >u>; I hope my next pieces will be better.

~~~ MINI STORY STARTS: ~~~

Why did he always let her talk him into these things? He was in the one situation he thought he would never put himself in, yet here he was. In fancy clothes, at a fancy ball, surrounded by rich snobs and those wanting to be them.

Yueki felt his blood burning to a boil as he watched the scene before him as he thought back on how this all happened.

He remembered minding his own business in his art studio, finishing a painting when his girlfriend, Usamii came in with a bunch of letters in her hands. The last little while, she had been collecting his mail for him before coming in as the busy firebender often forgot about it. He remembered not paying her much mind until she pulled out a letter and looked excited. Apparently she was given the letter that morning as well – an invitation to the cabbage corp ball.

Yueki had given her a sideways glance that pretty much said “…so? I Don’t care.” And went back to work. He had only half-listened to her talk about it and only really caught the last part of her saying they should go together. That made him stop his brush stroke and fully turn to look at her. After telling her he didn’t want to go to a snobby-ass ball, run by rich people who like to throw their money around, she quietly informed him that she had already went out and got a new dress for it and was looking forward to going with him. The disappointed look on her face made the artist instantly feel guilt rise up into his chest.

After a moment of silence, he had ruffled his hair in frustration and caved in, agreeing to go to the ball. Shortly after that, he searched through some old boxes of things his brother brought over that he found at his parents’ house that belonged to him. It mostly contained old clothes he never really wore, so he originally refused to take the box from his brother and was quite angry to find his brother managed to sneak it into his house. Though given the current situation, he was glad he didn’t burn the box like he originally planned to do.

Yueki didn’t own many ‘fancy’ clothes and never really had any reason to own them. However he had a tuxedo he wore for special occasions with his family…back when…he actually spoke to them. That tux was in the box his brother gave back to him. Though it was old, it still fit him, though he knew right away he didn’t to fix it up. The few days leading up to the ball, he had worked on fixing up the tux to his liking – even adding in his own artistic flares, while still keeping it fancy. He even tamed down his usually spiky hair so that it didn’t look so out of control.

So now, here he was. At the cabbage corp ball.

Alone.

Yueki twitched as he glanced around again, waiting for Usamii to arrive. He originally wanted to arrive together, but work had come up for Usamii and she told him to meet her there. If she stood him up, he was going to kill her.

After a half an hour past the meeting time, Yueki’s temper was at its limit and he was ready to leave before he burned the whole place down. Just as he had made up his decision to leave, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He fought the urge to turn around and firebend the person’s face, thinking it was another guest or waiter asking him if he wanted something. He turned around with a glare and froze. He had to blink several times before he realized that yes…that was Usamii.

She smiled up at him and apologized for running late, but Yueki was barely listening to her. The temper that had been flaring up had completely been washed away. He had never seen Usamii in a ball dress like this. A traditional dress for a festival, yes. But nothing like this. Her hair was up in a large bun as well, which made it hard to recognize her at first. He realized he must have been staring at her because she was blushing a bit and looked uneasy. Before Usamii could say another word, he leaned in and gave her a kiss. “…It was worth the wait. Now…let’s see if I remember how to dance….”

With that, he took her out to the dance floor and danced with her, focusing only on her and drowning out the rest of the world.
